Korea we're here!

Well we are finally here in Korea. We have been here for seven days now and are getting used to the heat. It is so much more humid than I ever remember North Carolina being and don't want to be out in it for very long. We have been told that this will only last for about three more weeks. We are also getting used to the sleeping schedule. Today we actually woke up at 7 am compared to 3 am that we were experinceing the rest of the week. We have been so busy this week with getting in processed, and I mean WE. The boys have had to come along with both of us to the class and making sure that we have new id cards and ration cards. We are ready for our new apartment. We have found one we like but have to wait for it's approval. We are so ready to have our own space and to have a place for the boys to play. Hopefully we will be in an apartment in about 2-3 weeks, if not sooner. We are aslo trying to get used to city life. The boys are telling us that it is so much louder here than North Carolina. Isaiah says that it looks like New York. The boys have become very popular amongst the younger Koreans working in the shops they are always talked to and are asked questions about their ages and where they are from. We thought that the boys wouldn't be as interested in the TV here because it is mostly in Korean, but they watch it intently, and try to find the few words that they do know.

Our new apartment in the distance. (We hope, just waiting for approval!)

Just excited that the boys were in bed by 6 pm. We had been up since 3 am and were ready for some much needed down time.

The boy's new school!

Hey, we still know what this is!

We had to go under the street to cross to the other side where all of the shops were and discovered that there are tons of stores under the road. It is packed with people at night and usually opens about 10-11 am, so when we took the pictures it was before opening.

Downtown Daegu at night! Very busy!!!

Utah Visit

We went to Utah for a couple of weeks before we started our new adventure in Korea. Here are some of the highlights. We started off our trip by celebrating the 4th of July up at the Ogden Boat Club at Pineview Dam. The kids had a blast playing in the water, picnicing, being with cousins and of course the fireworks. A few days later we headed up the Dinosaur Park with more cousin and grandparent time. Then over the first weekend of our visit we went to my familie's favorite place "Boondocks" for some racing, lazer tag and video games. We ended our trip with a visit in the park with more cousin time. What a great time! We loved our visit with our family. It was much needed. We were able to meet a few nephew's for the first time and visit with some family members we havent seen in about three years. We will truely miss everyone. I stole some pictures from my sister and sister-in-law.

WARNING for parents of little boys!!!

With my experience of being a mother of two little boys, I have found that they both love to stick things in their pockets; rocks, paperclips, anything found interesting that they think mom won't let them take home that they find on the ground.
It now has become habit. Well, I didn't check the pockets of a pair of cream colored shorts that were put into the washing machine and then into the dryer. A green crayon ruined an entire load of whites. Everything looked a lot like this shirt. Yeah! Off to the store with two boys in tow. They got new church shirts and I got a few new shirts to wear. Wow! Life with boys is sure never a dull moment.
It has been unusually hot here for this time of year and last week the boys invited a friend to come over to play in the sprinklers

2nd grade graduation

Last night Braxton had a graduation ceremony for all the kids moving on to the 3rd grade because here they are going to a new school. Braxton was so proud to be graduating and got so many awards. He is a member of the Book Club (someone who reads at least 50 books during the year), Awesome academics, Roaring Reader, Safety Patrol, Reading Achievement, Academic All-Star for entire year. He also got a trophy for being the second grade's top reader this year with reading a total of 957 books(Here they count each chapter read as a book). We really like to read can you tell? Sometimes we have to tell him that he needs to stop reading. Imagine that. He is turning into a walking encyclopedia spouting off instant facts. It cracks us up! Isaiah was so impressed with the ceremony as you can tell in the picture. He made it through most classes, but Braxton's class was up last, so we had a while to wait. We are so proud of our little man. He is a great student and loves learning. Way to go Big Guy! Keep it up!

They're gone!

The past few days our birds have been venturing out on the ledge of their nest. Well two of them were. The nest is quite small to accommodate four growing birds and it has been humorous to be watching them peck at each other when mommy and daddy were away. We have been talking to the boys about the birds getting too big for their house and they are probably getting ready to start to fly. They had started practicing in the nest for quite some time. So on one morning when the boys and I were home together I left the house to empty some trash and Isaiah followed me out, but stayed on the porch. As I was coming back into the house a small bird flew past my head, and when questions what had happened Isaiah exclaimed, "I wanted to see them fly and I knew that they could, so I shook the tree." Needless to say that when one left, with in a few hours they had all flown away. He really is a great kid and can usually find a way to get what he wants. Didn't they turn out pretty cute?

Our Graduate!

Isaiah graduated from preschool tonight. He is now an official Kindergartener. Wow how time flies! He was so proud in his cap and gown. He looks so handsome. He looks ready to start going to the big kid school. Are the parents? Probably not! He will be going to a school on post that is a K-8th grade school. Yikes! But the class sizes are pretty good.

Isaiah's preschool put on a little western program after the graduation ceremony and Isaiah is sure a performer! The kids learned sign language for quite a few of the songs. They have been practicing for the program for quite some time now and it sure paid off. We are so proud of him!

Taking a little peek!

We now have four little baby birds and we have been having a great time watching them grow. The birds are starting to get brave and look up and over the side of the nest. This one has a little mo-hawk going on and we think that they are getting a little cuter.
