Memorial Weekend in DC

We told ourselves that since we were so close (6 hour drive) to our Nation's Capital we were going to take the boys to DC. We decide on taking them over Memorial Weekend. It was so fun and very crowded at the same time. We had to take quite a bit of resting breaks with the boys because of all of the walking that we had to do. We were able to visit the National Mall at the Smithsonian and take the boys into a few museums. Along with visiting some memorials which make you very thankful to be living in a place with the freedoms that we have because of the sacrifices made in our behalf. The boys loved riding the metro and getting to go places very quickly. It was crazy to see so many bikers in one place. The boys would find the best bikes that they wanted when they grow up. We are glad that we were able to go.

Fishing

Braxton had a scout activity here at a local fish hatchery. We were able to bring Isaiah along to learn about fishing. Braxton had quite a few bites but nothing caught. Isaiah was able to catch his first fish within the first five minutes of fishing. He was so proud! And Braxton was able to cast by himself most of the time and by the end of the fishing experience Isaiah was getting to be a pretty good caster all by himself too.

Garden and Butterflies

It has been a while since I've seen so many butterflies. They are in full swing around here and the boys especially Isaiah are having a blast chasing them around the yard. Most are too fast to take photos of, but lately we have had this one type of butterfly staying around the garden that Brandon and the boys planted last weekend. We even have onions and garlic already coming up. Yay, something's growing!

Pickin' Strawberries

We went to the strawberry patch this afternoon. This was so fun for the boys. They ate more than they picked. I can say that we will be eating strawberries for a while and mom is going to try her hand at making freezer jam. Our house smells of fresh strawberries. Yum!

Myrtle Beach

We took the family down to Myrtle Beach this past weekend. We we starting to get a little worried about it because all week we were looking at the weather reports and they said that it had a slight chance to rain Saturday night. So we thought that it would be a great time to take the boys to the beach again, but it rained on the drive down there. But after finding a spot and eating lunch the rain cleared. It was overcast but nice. Braxton was a little disappointed in the waves there, they weren't as rough as they were in Wilmington. He couldn't body surf unless he actually got sand burns on his knees. Isaiah was overjoyed to be at the beach again. He smiled the entire way there! What a great day!

Boondocks

We spent almost half of our Easter break sick. Braxton came down with pneumonia and Danna got bronchitis then throughout the week everyone started to get what we brought to Utah. The following Friday everyone was finally better enough to get out. On Saturday morning we were able to go to a new fun place in Kaysville called Boondocks. We spent all day with the kids and then put them to bed and went out again until midnight. What a blast.
